Sunlight-Colored Roses

A sanctuary for dreams and shadows

Sewing: past, present, future

Past:
 – Tarquin’s Valentine outfit
I don’t know what possessed me. I felt like Tarquin really needed a Valentine outfit. I have had this red printed knit fabric since college and have spent six years daydreaming of what to do with it.

Also, my best pants yet and they have a fastener!
Present:
 – Work on Shelley’s Elizabethan jacket continues:
I have done a few more diamonds since this picture was taken. Soon I will be done with both sleeves and will move to the front and back pieces, which are much smaller. My goal is to have this finished by summer– since this was inspired by the colors and mood of River Legacy in mid-summer– the brown and gold reeds.

 – I am making a human-sized dress, which I have already messed up. I have made so many clothes, and I am still an amateur. I hope this time my passion will carry me through. I have a very strong vision of this dress, how versatile and wearable it will be, and how it will suit the new style for which I long– reproduction 1960’s and 1970’s garments. This dress is in a red printed fabric, fitted, drop-waisted with bell-shaped sleeves. With cable-knit tights, Mary Janes and my increasingly long hair, I think I will achieve that image. Anyway, enough about me.

Future:
 – The Lady of Shalott – simple, homespun medieval wardrobe for Ophelia
 – Possibly a medieval dress for me, for Scarborough Faire
 – a kimono for Nathan, slated for A-kon. It’s so great to have him to make clothes for– for the male characters I like, since I am absolutely averse to dressing like a man. ^^ With kimono, proper accessories and fan, he will be my ideal Backstage Prince.
 – Prairie dresses for me… for Ophelia.

Most of this will not be made if I don’t get a part-time job by this summer. I will be lucky to finish what I’ve started as it is. But how I dream.
