CVS still carries my favorite brand of Lumene skin care, though not the cosmetics.
Months ago I tried the Lumene beauty drops. It was the first facial serum I had used, and I loved it. I carried it in my purse, and when I needed to do errands after work I would use it to refresh my skin. I was really happy to find it. I received a coupon for another Lumene product today.
I decided to try CVS-brand products since they are about $5 less than name-brand, and they have the same ingredients.
I also purchased some basic hair essentials. I would like to wear my hair tied up or back more. It gives me an overall brighter feeling. These ties seem to be made of silicone.
I love to buy new color products, though I use very little actual makeup anymore. What I purchased today is the extent of what I use on a daily basis: concealer, blush, lip gloss. I would love to use less than I do now. I am always looking for a better concealer. This Maybelline line is new.
I also purchased Maybelline’s new lip gloss in Plum-tastic. I tried it tonight. It is perfect. I will definitely go back and get more colors. Most were sold out. I like the plum color, but I prefer toffee tones.
I found a Cover Girl peach blush triad. Cover Girl is my favorite color brand. I love the bright, translucent colors and product fragrances. I apply blush all over my face, so this triad of colors seems ideal for me. I will even be able to use the lightest color as an eyeshadow.
I was really tempted by Cover Girl’s Coffee Shop eyeshadow quad, but I don’t use eyeshadow, and I am trying to wear less makeup, not more.
I got an Ulta flier today. O.P.I.’s spring polishes are Dutch-themed. Their brown colors are my favorite, and the Wooden Shoes one caught my eye.

Tried to comment a while ago but LJ wouldn’t let me. Anyway – it’s interesting hearing about your makeup finds! I’m just starting to get into makeup properly, and so far my favourite is Body Shop. I don’t know if you have that in the US, as it’s an Australian brand. Otherwise I just use my mum’s free Dior samples, haha!
And congrats on your newly toned arms! I’m trying to pick up jogging, so knowing that exercise has worked for you is definitely a motivator!

Thank you for your words. They are so much appreciated! It is hard for me to talk about my appearance. My language is stilted, yet it’s something I want to work through. Beauty magazines don’t seem to tell me what I’m trying to know about beauty and appearance. I read Japanese and other foreign-language magazines because it’s all less confusing without words, and also it encourages me, seeing models that look more like me.
I have a low self-esteem, and focusing on my appearance in this journal helps me center my beauty goals. I feel self-conscious talking about myself. I am trying to trust that others won’t judge or believe my words come out of vanity or shallowness. Truly, thank you!

I didn’t know it was an Australian brand! How cool. It is around but not often found, more of an elite brand. I would love to try it some day. I must admit my favorites are the girlish Cover Girl and Maybelline cosmetics. 🙂
