Today we went to a flea market outside of Doc’s Records and Vintage, then went to Maple Branch Craft Brewery, went back to Doc’s and heard some live music while we shopped inside. Then, we went to the Pax & Beneficia coffee shop before returning home.
The brewery was pretty much like most brewery experiences for me. Lame, because I don’t drink beer and am not excited about wine. I got a coke which I would have been pretty excited about but they served it to me in a can and didn’t have any ice. It was not even as cold as it could have been. And there were no napkins. The experience is pretty standard with all of my brewery experiences, but I’m glad Nathan had a good time.
The toast at Pax & Beneficia was inedible for me, and I was a little appalled I got something so expensive I couldn’t eat. The za’atar seasoning was way too strong. There was also no water, not even when I asked and waited, and just one barista doing everything. It was fun being next to a really upscale hotel and watching all the goings-on downtown. It reminded me of our fancier days in our early 20s when we would go to Dallas all the time. I have seen articles that there are massive amounts of people quitting their job right now, so everywhere is short-staffed. I have noticed that service pretty much anywhere is awful. The only stores I have gone to recently are JoAnn and Target and both had most check-out lanes closed off, just a couple of people working.
However, today the shopping luck was really with me. At the first stall in the flea market I put my hand right on a stack of Dark Shadows comic books and pulled them out, not knowing what they were.
