Sunlight-Colored Roses

A sanctuary for dreams and shadows

MinGaLaBar Burmese Kitchen

I love Burmese food, and it is hard to find in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

There is the Papawady Asian Market in Fort Worth, which has a small kitchen. When I was there, I got a stewed beef dish with rice that was very good.

In Lewisville, which I don’t get to very often, there is Inlay Burmese Kitchen, which I have been to relatively recently and was excellent, and Dingdi Myanmar Restaurant, which I may have been to many years ago but can’t remember for sure. When I was in Lewisville picking up a laptop from an eBay purchase, my husband and I went to Inlay Burmese Kitchen and then to Yangon Grocery Store, which seems to be a Burmese-focused grocery store.

When we went to Des Moines last month, I was amazed to find MinGaLaBar Burmese Kitchen. I took some photos of the dining room and of my food with my Palm Centro.

If I lived around there, I would definitely eat there all the time.

I got the Burmese Htamin Jaw topped with the fried egg. The deep red blobs seemed to be some kind of candied barbecue pork. It was all delicious.
