I am the mermaid,
My words dispersed like seafoam
While it is my time to walk the earth
I will share as much as I can,
Even though I am as tiny as a grain of sand
As I walk by the shore,
Looking out over the dark water that is my home
I think of what I will leave behind
I am as brief as a glimmer
I sing throughout the day and night
Our flickering candles on the shore
A sea shrine in the sand
In the morning the tide will come,
But through the night they burn
The only light in this darkness.
