I wish I could return to the innocence of childhood.
Getting this job was a dream come true. However, it’s ended up being the greatest trial in my whole life. I feel, after standing up to my supervisor, that I am separated from my old self forever.
I have come back to something, but sitting here and writing with music, tea, and a scented oil warmer. I’ve thrown my journals from high school away. I wonder if I’ve lost the person I thought I was then. I believe if I could feel secure, then I would really be able to live like myself again.
I used to be prayerful, but now I feel suspicious of God, like I might realize at some point that God threatens my sense of self.

Oona casts spells from an ancient book, resulting in her curse. Her father sends her from Chary to the wasteland Drummondi. Tarn seeks Oona after seeing her in visions. He leaves his family and journeys to Drummondi.

I feel I’ve lost my mind. I don’t know how I’ll get through the next few weeks. I dread going to work every day.
I wonder if I will obtain the things I want: home, love, security, a future.
Becoming mature means never being completely sure of anything.
When I was a child I thought and acted like a child; and when I grew up, I put away childish things; and now I see through a glass darkly, but face-to-face.

Notes on The Sacrifice
Serena Davis arrives at the once-great plantation Four Winds, overlooking the Miss River, to marry her betrothed, Jasper Randolph. However despite her best intentions, Serena finds herself falling in love with Jasper’s cousin Hennessey.
Serena does not exactly love Jasper. She wants to marry him because she is desperate to evade her father’s tyrannical control. Her father is very wealthy, but very stern, and has raised Serena in the strictest environment, denying her everything, even though his fortune is extensive. Jasper wants to marry Serena for her wealth.
2. Serena’s maid Jewel hints to Serena that Jasper isn’t all that he seems, even though Jasper appears warm-hearted and enthusiastic toward Serena.
Serena meets Hennessey for the first time while riding in the woods. He has had a mysterious accident and does not know what happened to him. He is unconscious but she revives him. His leg is broken and Serena must go for help.
